My work explores the merging together of the old and new Mackay. It incorporates fragmented patterns which merge images and provides the audience with information about Mackay history. Historic photographs of the Mackay region have been collected and blended with contemporary photographs of the exact same area to denote the reconciliation of the understanding of history. Kaleidoscope images mix the two time periods representing various time speeds. This juxtaposition creates questions for the audience around change, time, and acceptance. The audience is encouraged to look closely at the images creating an entryway into the past and present.
