How Will They React
Four prints, mother, father, sister and egg in eggcup as well as the brain egg in an eggcup

ARTIST STATEMENT

This installation captures the varied emotional responses of family members when a child speaks out their battle with mental health. The egg-shaped brain is a non-literal portrait of this person, representing the fragility, delicateness and struggle being faced. The mother is upset, feeling she has failed. The father is unsure what to do, feeling the need to process. The sister does not want to accept the fact that the person she looks up to is struggling, choosing to disregard the problem. Each carefully cradles the brain to express their support and care for the family member in their vulnerable state.
