ARTIST STATEMENT

Consuming is what we do daily. We consume to thrive, we consume because we crave for something and to indulge ourselves. In this artwork, the theme of "gluttony" is explored. In this modern society where data roams the world, we barely have the time to process what we devour. The girl in red dress with a rotten skull placed in front of her, is not focusing on what she is about to feast on, she looks away. This symbolises how used we are to consume without processing. We crave to catch up with trend, and act like other people.

ARTWORK PROCESS

Painting acrylic painting on canvas using expressive brush marks and high saturation and contrast of colours. Deconstruction and symbolism are investigated in the artwork through peculiar objects. The theme "gluttony", which I have given to this artwork, is broken down to further investigate how consuming affect us in our daily lives.
