ARTIST STATEMENT

Unlike art, mass produced clothing undergoes no creative processes and is rather generically produced by a lifeless machine, yet it is clothing that we personally use to express ourselves. Through wearable art, I have captured the creative process involved by each individual artist as they make garments. Thus, it was my goal to create a line of clothing that I felt expressed me as an artist. Inspired by Kidsuper’s fashion show RECYCLING, which was created entirely from donated clothing, my journey started.

ARTWORK PROCESS

I went and bought various pieces of clothing from Op shops and reconstructed them into new garments. I was inspired by KIDSUPER. I sewed, screen printed and painted onto their surfaces to creative a series of garments that reflected my creativity. The garments are for both male and females to wear.
