ARTIST STATEMENT
The digitally altered photographs depict contemporary issues of the lack of freedom of religion some have and acts as a source of knowledge. The idea came from what it must feel like to live in an area where one does not have freedom of religion. Additionally, inspiration to use images of women staring in a direction, reflecting their own identity, however I blurred the faces to symbolise the identity that was forcibly taken. The photographs where taken at a place the subject is comfortable with and in her cultural dress, also symbolising the identity she once had, and lost.
