ARTWORK DETAILS

Eloise Field St Patrick's College Townsville (Townsville)
Unconstrained Wearable Art
A wearable art piece, using hand designed fabric.

ARTIST STATEMENT

This piece is inspired by the spontaneity and freedom of nature. Layering was explored using nature, ink and water in mixed media. Digital editing allowed the production of fabric that shows these free flowing materials. In opposition to the natural earthy tones of nature, this piece was kept deliberately vivid to suggest the vibrancy and energy of the environment, in particular when overcoming environmental challenges. By incorporating natural forms and technology I was able to construct a piece inspired by the work of Avant Garde designers. The idea of the work being ‘unconstrained’ is further shown in the growing embellishments.

ARTWORK PROCESS

2D works were produced using monoprinting, drawing and layering of found materials. These images were digitally edited and then printed on fabric. The garment was sewn together and the 3D embellishments were constructed using wire.
