Move With Me Installation
Installation - two wooden posts, fishing line, high flow acrylic on acetate, wooden 'stepping stones'.

ARTIST STATEMENT

My work, Move with me, is inspired by the movements unearthed within natural environments. I explored how those shifts in nature hold influence on human life and physical structures, movements such as ivy creeping up buildings, waterways developing in built-up areas and ants creating paths in homes. What is seen as a nuisance by man, is seen by nature as a shift in the balance of power while the natural environment fights back. As the audience moves with/within the installation they are placed as the physical structures, while the natural surroundings fight back to reclaim the space.

ARTWORK PROCESS

The artwork was created by applying high flow acrylic medium onto clear acetate panels with varying heights and sizes. These panels were then suspended above wooden stepping stones from wooden posts using natural twine and fishing line. These natural woods and visual representations in this chosen way not only shows the natural environment influencing the space, but it shows nature fighting back.
