Hosted by Commerce North West and celebrating Northern Outback businesses; the Jemena Northern Outback Business Awards recognise outstanding contributions to the growth of our economy and provide a vibrant showcase of innovation and progression from the region's businesses.
"Northern Outback" encompasses the local Government areas of Boulia, Burke, Carpentaria, Cloncurry, Croydon, Doomadgee, Etheridge, Flinders, McKinlay, Mornington Island, Mount Isa and Richmond.
Recognising Northern Outback business industry leaders through the acknowledgement of innovative business processes, product development, sustainability and overall business success; the Awards also recognise the important social and environmental contributions made by organisations through excellence of service, commitment to their customers, philanthropic ideals, ethical behaviour and environmental sustainability.

This is for those new to business (less than 3 years in operation) with 5 or less employees that are just starting out in their chosen field but already making a significant impression in the region.
This is for those new to business (less than 3 years in operation) with more than 5 employees that are just starting out in their chosen field but already making a significant impression in the region.
For businesses that may be small but are making waves and achieving success across all facets of business. This category is open to businesses with an annual turnover less than $3 million.
For businesses that are kicking goals in every area. The category is open to businesses with an annual turnover over $3 million
For organisations where a positive social impact is at the core of their purpose. They are actioning innovative solutions to address social issues and better the region. Open to not-for-profit, social enterprise and profit-for-purpose organisations (contributing a minimum of 10% of their profits back to the cause).
For businesses who value their employees and realise that looking after them results in better outcomes and higher productivity. They demonstrate leadership in the growth of their people, and show commitment to staff development, incentives and work/life balance.

Voted for by the people, this Award is for businesses that have gone above and beyond. It is an award that aims to encourage innovation, customer service, growth and excellence. All nominated businesses are eligible for public voting.
Developed to acknowledge and celebrate consistency in superior business practices The Hall of Fame concept recognises award recipients who have won at least one category in three separate years.
Recognises the very best from across our region. The winning business, through its outstanding achievements, will emanate business excellence and strengths across all areas of operations and highlight the Northern Outback as a destination of choice for business. All nominated businesses nominated are eligible for consideration for this award.
Includes all volunteer-based positions where time is provided for sporting, not-for-profit and community-based organisations
Includes all services where qualified professionals are required to deliver the relevant service
Includes all service-based positions that involve customer relations without the need for a trade qualification
