The Women in Finance Awards is an exciting program that identifies the leading women across financial services, from business leaders and mentors, to skilled investment managers, to client-centric accountants, financial advisers and mortgage brokers. The winners will represent inspirational high achievers from the financial sector, from today's thought leaders to the stars of tomorrow.

Winners will be announced at a five star gala event at The Star Event Centre on 20 September, 2018.

Entry requirements

  • Entrants must address all submission questions and may provide up to two optional third-party references.
  • There is a 400-word limit per question. If you exceed this, the system will not allow you to lodge your submission.
  • Please provide and refer to any attached supporting material, for the judges' consideration. This material may differ depending on the category and can include images, statistics, media coverage and other relevant information. If documents are not directly referenced and relevant to your submission, they will be disregarded. You may submit a maximum of FOUR additional supporting documents to strengthen your entry, unless directly requested.
  • The deadline for entries is 5.30pm, 20 July 2018.

This award recognises the accountant who has most effectively shaped their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all accountants and based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the association representative (or relevant title) who has most effectively shaped their association's performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all women working in member-based associations, industry bodies and advocacy groups for financial services (including CPA, FBAA, AFA, MFAA, FPA, SMSFA, ASFA, AIST, ISA). This award is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises an outstanding auditor in the accounting industry, who has effectively driven revenue growth and shaped their business success in the 2017 calendar year.

Based on business growth metrics as well as support and servicing, the award considers the activities, strategies and actions of the auditor in terms of driving increased revenue and efficiencies.

This award is open to auditors of all varieties operating in Australia. The award is based on the period from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017. Auditors must supply proof they held relevant registrations for the six months or more of the calendar year.

This award recognises the business development professional who has most effectively helped support their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all business development professionals who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the chief executive officer (CEO) who has most effectively shaped their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all CEOs (or relevant title) who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the chief financial officer (CFO) who has most effectively shaped their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all CFOs, CFOOs (or relevant title) who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the director who has most effectively shaped their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all HR professionals who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the professional who has most effectively developed and capitalised on innovation, creating a new best practice in financial services.

It is open to all individuals who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year. All relevant types of innovation will be considered - whether related to product, service, business development processes, technology, staff/client management or any other area.

This award recognises Australia's top investment manager, considering high levels of performance in portfolio construction and investment strategy.

This is an individual award open to a portfolio, fund or investment manager and is based on the period from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017.

This award recognises the legal counsel working within a business or organisation for financial services who has showcased commitment to securing transactions and ensuring outstanding financial outcomes for their organisation. It includes lawyers who work in all types of Australian-operated banking and finance organisations, from the big four and top-tiers to regional financial institutions, mutual banks and insurance organisations. It is open to all lawyers who have been employed by a banking and finance organisation that has operated in Australia for at least two full financial years. To be eligible for this award, the lawyer must describe how she has ensured favourable outcomes for their business/organisation in the 12 months from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017.

This award recognises the marketing professional who has most effectively driven value to a financial services organisation in their role within the organisation or through a client service offering.

It is open to all marketing professionals (both agency and in-house) within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the mentor who has made an outstanding contribution to supporting or mentoring and has provided a high level of guidance and support to staff, students or mentees.

It is open to mentors working within financial services and based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the mortgage and finance broker who best represents the industry across key factors, including but not limited to, loan volumes, loan book growth, compliance, submission quality and customer service, as well as business processes, systems, stakeholder engagement and customer relationship abilities.

It is open to all mortgage and finance brokers who have been in the role since 1 Jan 2016 and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the office administrator who has most effectively helped support their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all office administrators who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.

This award recognises the principal or SME owner who has most effectively shaped their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all principals, SME owners (or relevant title) who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year. A small-to-medium business is defined as a business with less than 200 employees.

This award recognises the regional professional who has most effectively shaped their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all regional professionals who work within financial services in Australia and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year. Regional Australia includes all of the towns, small cities and areas that lie beyond the major capital cities (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra).

This award recognises Australia's top risk or life insurance advice specialist, considering not only the delivery of best practice advice, but also their aptitude and acumen to building a solid advice business.

This is an individual award open to any insurance-focused financial adviser and is based on the period from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017.

The advisers small businesses trust with their affairs are contributing to the economic heartbeat of Australia.

This award recognises the finance professional who actively seeks to service and assist small business clients, including accountants, bookkeepers, financial advisers and mortgage advisers.

Specifically, the category examines the strategies that the firm uses to pursue a small business client base, and how they ensure growth and compliance of small business clients.

This award is an individual award and is open to:

  • All advisers who provided advice to small businesses in the 2017 calendar year. This award is based on activities between 1 January 2017 and 31 December 2017.
  • Accountants, bookkeepers, financial advisers and mortgage advisers.

NOTE: Responses to open-ended questions will account for 100 per cent of the judging assessment.

This award recognises the most outstanding professional dedicated to the consistent provision of quality, robust SMSF advice.

It considers the professional development, expertise and strategies of the adviser in servicing and maintaining their SMSF clients.

This award is open to all financial planners and/or accountants who were licensed and operating under full AFSL in the 2017 calendar year. This award considers activities from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2017.

This award recognises the thought leader who has most effectively shaped their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all professionals who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year. This professional is able to clearly articulate the desired direction of the industry, draw upon best practice from other relevant industries, and market to champion growth and development of the sector.

This award recognises the young professional who has most effectively shaped their business' performance and delivered value to their organisation.

It is open to all young professionals (under the age of 35 years) who work within financial services and is based on activities over the 2017 calendar year.
